We are very pleased to welcome David Hobourn to Bromley Parish Church. 

Entrance is by programme at a cost of £10 and includes refreshments served from 11:00.

David Hobourn was educated at Haileybury College in the UK, and Trinity College of Music in London, and holds all the major performance diplomas of Trinity College. In 2000 he became a Fellow of the Royal College of Organists.

As an Organist and Choir Director, he has held posts at Canterbury Cathedral and Bristol Cathedral, as well as several parish churches in the UK. At Bristol, David was heavily involved in the training and directing of the Cathedral Choirs, the planning of the liturgical music programme, and accompanied the choirs in several live BBC broadcasts, CD recordings, and many European tours.

David is in much demand as an Organ recitalist, and has performed in many prestigious venues such as Notre Dame and La Madeleine in Paris, Westminster Abbey and St.Paul’s Cathedral in London, many cathedrals and churches in the UK and France, as well as cathedrals in South Africa, Australia, and New Zealand. David is equally active as a choral director. Since 1993 he has directed Cantores Cantuarienses

in concerts and choral services twenty cathedrals and abbeys throughout the UK. In 2001, David and his family moved to France, where he worked as Director as Music at Ombrosa, Lycée multilingue de Lyon, and as a university lecturer. He was, from 2006, the Director of the Lyon Catholic University Choir, and in 2009, David formed his own professional choir, Selva Vocale, whose aim is to promote the English Cathedral tradition in the Lyon area, and beyond. In 1999, David became an Examiner on the panel of Trinity College London, and has since toured New Zealand, Australia, Malaysia, South Africa, India, Hong Kong, Japan, and exclusively in Europe and the UK

In 2012, David became an examiner of Trinity Rock and Pop, as well as a moderator of Diploma examiners. David has also much experience as an adjudicator, and last year worked at the Hong Kong Schools Music Festival. He has also worked in this capacity in South Africa, New Zealand, and the UK. In August 2012, David moved to Thailand to take up the post of Director of Choral Music at Shrewsbury International School Bangkok.

As with his time in France, David is actively involved as Musical Director of school shows. Since arriving in Bangkok, he has also led many teacher support meetings and workshops for Trinity College London, particularly in promoting Rock and Pop Examinations in South East Asia, including introducing them to music schools in Indonesia and Vietnam.
