7:30pm Thomas Trotter Concert for 25th Anniversary of our Walker organ

Saturday 26th November 2016

To celebrate the 25th anniversary of  the installation of our Walker Organ we have the pleasure of welcoming Thomas Trotter to Bromley Parish Church to perform for us.

Thomas Trotter is rightly regarded as one of the most brilliant concert organists on the world stage. Trotter’s performances are invigorating, revealing the inner details of the music.”– The American Organist, Dec 2013

We would be delighted if you could come along and celebrate this very special occasion with us.  Recognition must be given to the members of Bromley Parish Church who had the vision to order the construction and installation of the organ.

Thomas Trotter is one of Britain’s most widely admired musicians.
He has had a special relationship with the City of Birmingham since he was appointed City Organist in 1983 based at the city’s renovated historic Town Hall where he is also Resident Organist of the magnificent Klais organ in the Symphony Hall.  He is also Organist at St. Margaret’s Church, Westminster Abbey,  and Visiting Fellow in Organ Studies at the Royal Northern College of Music.

Thomas Trotter has been awarded the Royal Philharmonic Society’s prestigious Instrumentalist Award in recognition of his achievements as “one of the foremost exponents of the organist’s art”,
International Performer of the Year Award for 2012 by the New York City Chapter of the American Guild of Organists and, in 2016, the Royal College of Organists Medal.

The organ at Bromley Parish Church was built in 1991 by J. W. Walker & Sons Ltd.  It was designed to support congregational worship, to accompany a traditional choir, and as a recital instrument for use alone or with other instruments.  It has three manuals and pedals, 40 speaking stops, six couplers, and three tremulants, and comprises 55 ranks with 2,708 pipes. The manual and pedal actions of the organ are mechanical; the stop control is electro-magnetic with a solid state capture combination action.
